The Summer Village of South View is a municipality with its own Council that meets at the administration Office. To be sure of the exact date of the meeting contact the office or one of your Councilors.  The meetings are open to all ratepayers.

South View has an exceptional mix of permanent residents and weekend residents.  There is a great park area with playground equipment, a ball diamond and a large open area for games.  South View has an annual Family Fun Day complete with games for kids of all ages, a wiener roast and visit around a fire in the evening. There is also an annual Golf Tournament for all its residents.  There is a public boat launch on Oscar Wickstrom Drive.

Please be a good neighbor and use common courtesy when enjoying your new property.

Updated contact information from Alberta Health Services

Postal service is available through the post office in Darwell with the possibility of getting a box at Darwell or Lake Isle.

Waste Disposal Services
Our village offers weekly general household garbage pickup in summer and bi-weekly in winter.  Collection days are every Tuesday including holidays.  Please have waste out to the curbside no later than 9 am.  Garbage should be placed in standard garbage cans and must weigh no more than 50 lbs.  If you have cut glass or other sharp objects in a bag, please mark the bag for the protection of the workers.

Large items must be hauled to the Regional Landfill west of Gunn, on Highway 43, where there is a charge for disposal.  The Village generally has a yearly date where bins are brought in for the disposal of larger items.  This is usually in the late summer/early fall and they are there for a few hours.  Residents may bring their large items for disposal at no cost except for items that contain Freon (e.g. Fridges or air conditioners).   For toxic waste, the Village usually participates in the Toxic Round-up in Onoway.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

The closest hospital is located in Stony Plain or Drayton Valley.  The RCMP detachment that services this area is in Evansburg.  Fire services are dispatched from Darwell.  Ambulance service is dispatched through Parkland Ambulance.  In case of an emergency call 911.  In the event that you require emergency services, it is imperative that you have your exact address posted near your telephone along with clear directions to make it quicker for help to arrive.  Please remember that your visitors may not be as familiar with the area and they may be the ones placing the call.
